Bude, North Cornwall
Bude, on the scenic North Cornwall coast, is a lively Cornish seaside holiday resort.
Situated near the Devon border it is an ideal family holiday destination from which
to explore the sights of both Cornwall and Devon.
As well as some of the best surfing locations in the U.K., there are beaches to suit all
tastes, from stretches of sand to isolated rocky coves. Bude also has a large open air
sea pool with R.N.L.I. lifeguards on duty in the summer months.
For sports enthusiasts there are lots of outdoor activities available in the local area.
Many local outdoor activity centres provide daily activities such as canoeing, surfing, windsurfing, rock climbing, abseiling, mountain-biking, sailing, archery, sphere-balling
and more .
Golfers will enjoy the Bude & Nth.Corwall Golf Clubs fantastic 18 hole links course with some of the finest greens in the South West.There is also a 9 hole course with driving
range at nearby Ivyleaf golf course, a 10 min drive from Bude.
Sea fishing from the local beaches and rocks around Bude and Widemouth is popular and catches of Bass, Codling, flat fish, mackerel, whiting and dogfish are possible.
Coarse fishing is permitted on Bude Canal (Close season 1st April to 31st May).
Stocked with carp, tench, rudd, perch and bream. Permits may be obtained from the Bailiff
who patrols the canal bank.
The less active may enjoy breathtaking cliff walks on the Cornish coastal path or a
quiet stroll along the tranquil canal, with the only canal lock and seagate to the open
sea in Britain.
Throughout the summer there are various activities such as lifeboat day, poldark fayre, and a week long festival of jazz with visiting international
and national performers.
For a day out there is the world famous Eden Project, and for families with young
children there are several adventure parks.
The Tarka Trail in Barnstaple and the Camel Trail in Camelford both offer cycle
rides on flat ground with superb views. |
